AKA Entertainment & Media is an event promotion and publishing firm based in Greensboro, NC. owned and managed by Allen McDavid, an
experienced marketing professional. In a 22+ year career, Allen has worked for many major clients and brands including Hanes, Jefferson-Pilot
Financial, AIG, eDiets, VoiceGlo, NoNonsense Hosiery, Purolator, Regal Boats, Burlington Socks, NC State Athletics, and more. Allen co-founded
and helped build four companies prior to forming AKA Entertainment & Media - McDavid & Holbrook Advertising, SpyderByte Communications,
Stratapult Studios, and Emisare, Inc. Additionally, Allen co-founded two non-profit organizations, Techcentricity and the Greensboro Center City
Marketing Alliance. Allen and his wife have owned and managed a retail gift shop on South Elm Street in downtown Greensboro since 1999.
They live in a loft above the store.
AKA Entertainment & Media primarily focuses its efforts on downtown marketing and events working in collaboration with several organizations
including the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership to promote downtown vitalization. In addition to its events production AKA also produces the
official Downtown Greensboro Guide, The Broach Theatre Playbill and The Piedmont Triad Hippo, a monthly lifestyle publication.
Allen McDavid, and AKA Entertainment & Media are both well known in the region. AKA has produced shows in Greensboro, Winston-Salem,
Eden, NC and Zebulon, NC. AKA's Texas Pete Twin City RibFest in Winston-Salem is second only to the Lexington Barbecue Festival in attendance
numbers for Triad food events and has been featured in "Bon Appetit" Magazine and on MarthaStewart.com. In recognition of the success of his
ArtsAlive! Series in downtown Greensboro Allen was named one of "20 who shaped theTriad arts scene in 2003" by GoTriad. In 2004 MysticKarnival
was named one of the "Top 10 new cultural events in the Triad" by GoTriad. AKA's 2006 Eden RiverFest was recognized by the NC Department of
Commerce Main Street Program, as the "Best Downtown Festival of 2006".
